Speaker begins at 9:00 am

Master Sergeant Amy Cost (USAF-RET) will be speaking to veterans on the opiate and heroin issues in Miami County, plus trends and efforts to fight against this addiction within the county. After a distinguished military career, Amy now works for Miami County Recovery Council, a mental health and addiction counseling center in Troy as their Community Outreach Specialist.

The graphic and video above is a featured story Ohio Attorney General Mike Dewine produced to highlight the devastation opiate addiction is having on suburbs and rural communities like Troy, OH.

During her military service, Cost worked for her first 12 years on active duty as a security forces member. As an Air Force SP she was stationed at Malmstrom AFB, Montana; RAF Lakenheath, England and Minot AFB, North Dakota. In 1999 she was selected to cross train into recruiting duty where she spent the rest of her career. She started as an enlisted accessions recruiter and decided to work as an Operations NCO and Public Affairs and Marketing NCO. Her last assignment was as a Recruiting Flight Chief where she supervised eight recruiters that covered half of the State of North Carolina.
